Dawson County producers are now eligible for emergency loans through the USDA’s Farm Service Agency as a result of action taken recently by U.S. Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue designated. Purcue designated 10 Texas counties as primary natural disaster areas, making producers in those counties and in adjoining counties eligible for the emergency loans. The designation allows FSA to extend much-needed emergency credit to producers recovering from natural disasters. Emergency loans can be used to meet various recovery needs including the replacement of essential items such as equipment or livestock, reorganization of a farming operation or the refinance of certain debts.
