Plans have been announced for a horizontal oil drilling venture almost 10 miles northwest of Lamesa.Midland-based Beryl Oil and Gas received a permit this past Thursday from the Texas Railroad Commission to drill the No. 1H Sierra 59-2 M.The surface drill site will be on the south side of FM 829, about a third of a mile west of the turnoff to the U.S. Silica sand mine in that area.Targeted for a total depth of 10,000 feet, the well bore will travel horizontally to the south-southeast for about one and three-quarter miles.
