The Dawson County death toll from COVID-19 has now risen to three with the addition of a Lamesa man who died in a Lubbock hospital more than three weeks ago. That man’s death originally had been listed with Lubbock County because he reportedly had been diagnosed in Lubbock County and died in a hospital there. The man, in his 70s, was a resident of Lamesa, however. “It doesn’t matter where someone dies, the death should go to the county where the person lived,” a spokesperson for the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD) said Tuesday.
