COVID cases jump

After easing off the past couple of weeks, the number of active COVID-19 cases here more than tripled this past week, reaching a high mark not seen since January.A total of 58 Dawson County residents currently have active cases of the virus, according to the weekly update issued Thursday evening by the South Plains Public Health District (SPPHD).That number is up from 25 the previous week and 32 reported about the middle of July.Total deaths here attributed to the virus remain at 96.
