Several governmental entities around the area enjoyed bigger paychecks from the Texas Comptroller’s office this past week, Dawson County and the City of Lamesa were not among them. Sales tax rebates from the comptroller’s office represented local taxes collected on sales in November and reported to the comptroller in December. Ackerly, O’Donnell, Seagraves, Snyder and Tahoka received higher payments compared to January of last year. Andrews, Big Spring, Brownfield, Post and Seminole received lower payments than what they got in January 2020. Dawson County collected $65,175 in its January sales tax allocation from the state.
