When it comes to the Texas Comptroller’s Office dispersing the monthly sales tax rebates, many cities and counties across the state hav been feeling a pinch. While some saw slight increases in both their monthly and annual payments, Dawson County was one of those who fell behind with smaller sales tax rebates distributed Tuesday by the state. The county took a 30.35-percent hit in its rebate check of $63,384. A year ago that check amounted to $91,012. The county’s total earnings for the year also are showing a loss.
