Lamesa City Council members gave initial approval Tuesday evening for a change in zoning to allow a proposed apartment complex to be located in what is now a single-family neighborhood at the southeast corner of Lamesa. The rezoning was approved on a split vote despite concerns expressed by several residents who live near the site in the city’s Hollis Carver neighborhood. It will be considered for final approval at the council’s next meeting on Nov. 19.
