City preparing Forrest Park for Chicken Fried Festival

City workers are out in full force sprucing up Forrest Park in time for next month’s annual Chicken Fried Steak Festival.“We’re just doing some updates,” said parks director Robert Ramirez.The three-day festival, celebrating the city as the birthplace of the chicken fried steak, kicks off April 28 and ends with a Sunday morning church service April 30.The festival comes with two nights of musical entertainment, and two days of vendors, carnival games, a volleyball tournament, a Mr. and Miss Chicken Fried Steak Pageant, a parade, a pet costume contest, a car and motorcycle show, and other activities.City parks staff are ...
