Lamesa City Council members on Tuesday honored a man who was in his first term in office when COVID-19 cut his life short. Luciano Reyes’ widow, Elsa, and other family members were on hand at Tuesday night’s council meeting to accept a resolution passed by the council and a plaque commemorating Reyes’ service to the city. Reyes died Oct. 31 of COVID-19 induced pneumonia in a Fort Worth hospital. He was 51. Reyes was elected to his first term in office last May. His term ends in May 2023.
