More than two dozen people, including representatives from the City of Lamesa and Dawson County along with Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) officials, attended a ribbon cutting Wednesday morning marking completion of the extension of Texas Highway 349 from Texas Highway 137 to U.S. 87. The date the roadway will open for traffic has not yet been announced. “This is known as the Southern Cross in Lamesa,” said Steve Warren, TxDOT Lubbock District Engineer who welcomed the crowd to the event. “This four-lane connects Midland and Lubbock,”said Warren.
