Caution urged with New Year’s fireworks

Residents ringing in the New Year by firing off fireworks in the city could find themselves in hot water.Should a police officer respond to a call about fireworks illegally ignited within city boundaries, the people responsible for lighting the fuse will first get a warning, according to Lamesa Police Chief Josh Peterson.But if they ignore that warning and officers return to the scene, they’ll see their fireworks show come to an abrupt end.
