Dawson County and its neighbors continue to lag far behind the rest of the state in the percentage of eligible residents who have been vaccinated for COVID-19. That’s according to information posted daily by the Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS). The TDSHS website on Tuesday afternoon was reporting 2,872 Dawson County residents are now fully vaccinated. That’s only about 27.4 percent of the estimated 10,475 Dawson County residents age 12 and older who are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine under state and federal guidelines.
