ANDREWS – The school district’s first-day enrollment count revealed student numbers are back on the rise. Andrews Independent School District (AISD), which had dipped below the 4,000-student level late last year for the first time since 2016-2017, was back over that mark with its first-day count Thursday, according to school officials. A significant increase at the high school, bolstered by a large freshman class, boosted Andrews High School’s number, but not as much as originally anticipated. Overall, the district’s student count on Thursday – the first day of school year – totaled 4,042. That is up significantly from the end of last year.
