Active COVID cases hit five-month low

Even as the local death toll from COVID-19 continues to grow, the number of active cases in Dawson County has dropped to its lowest figure in more than five months. The South Plains Public Health District on Thursday was reporting 37 active cases of the virus among residents of the county. That is down from 46 at the first of the week. The numbers being reported this week represent the first time since the middle of last August that the active case count here has been below 50.
