Emotions and symbolism flowed together in sometimes-overwhelming amounts here Monday at the memorial service for Samuel Leonard. Leonard, who grew up here and served as a Dawson County sheriff’s deputy until a few weeks ago, was shot and killed in the line of duty on May 10 in Eden. Leonard had been with the Concho County sheriff’s office for less than two weeks before gunfire erupted when he and a fellow deputy responded to a complaint about a dog. The other deputy, Sgt.
