Lamesa’s annual back-to-school giveaway event is now just a week away.This year’s event will be a bit different than those in the past, however, because the Lamesa school system is providing all of the basic classroom supplies all of its students.With that happening, the focus for this year’s giveaway will be to provide clothing for local school children.Backpacks and personal hygiene items also will be available for the students.Because of that change, organizers say they prefer financial donations to assist with the effort this year rather than donations of actual products.“We don’t want used clothing,” Simco said.The giveaway, hosted by ...
