It is a near certainty that Texans will be allowed to carry handguns without a license in the near future as House Bill 1927 passed both chambers and heads to a conference committee to hash out amendments added in the Senate version. Gov. Greg Abbott has said he would sign the bill, which means Texans would no longer be required to obtain a license to carry a handgun either openly or concealed.
When Lamesa High School (LHS) juniors and seniors come out for the prom Saturday, they will be following a few ground rules, along with having to wait to see who is this year’s Prom King and Queen.

What will be an end to a journey for some and a beginning for others will be recognized Friday at the Howard College and SouthWest College for the Deaf (SWCD) pinning and graduation ceremonies.
BROWNFIELD – Last week saw some unusual weather hit the county with some much-needed rains, but that also brought cold temperatures and a hail storm. The weather for many can be a welcomed guest, especially if it rains during a time of drought, but what was not welcomed was the hail.
