North Elementary is focusing on relationships by introducing Communities in Schools, or CIS. CIS was founded by Bill Miliken who said, “It’s relationships, not programs, that change children.” Bill believed that transformative relationships are key to unlocking a student’s potential. Along with building relationships, CIS aspires to practice diversity, equity and inclusion to break down systemic barriers. Through CIS North Elementary aims to break down barriers to ensure all students, no matter what they may face, are successful academically, socially and emotionally.
