While some businesses will remain open on Monday, practically all governmental offices and schools in and around Lamesa will be closed for the Labor Day holiday. Food will still be available, however. Lamesa’s two major grocery stores – Claiborne’s and United Supermarkets – both will b open Monday, as will most convenience stores. Students in Lamesa and the five surrounding rural school districts all will have a holiday on Monday. The Lamesa campus of Howard College also will be closed.
