DEMOLISHED
Sparks fly as Lamesa firefighters hit the front of a welding truck with water Friday afternoon on Highway 180 about five miles west of Lamesa. The fire reportedly started in the back of the truck, where tanks of oxygen and acetylene were located, and quickly spread toward the front, completely destroying the cab of the four-door vehicle. The fire force the Highway 180 to be shut down for a good while, and also closed FM 829 until after the blaze was brought under control
Defense attorney one item of business for commissioners
A new indigent defense contract for the 106th District Court will be among the items considered by members of the Dawson County Commissioners Court on Tuesday.

The road taken
I, as well as most others who string words together, will never be confused with Robert Frost, the poetry genius from whose pen flowed marvelous words about his beloved New England. One of his best – published in the Atlantic Monthly in 1915 – was “The Road Not Taken.” Actually, it was intended as a joke to a writer friend.
