Hwy. 87 to get median cables

Work is expected to begin this coming week on a $1.77-million project by the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) to make safety improvements to U.S. Highway 87 in the northern part of Dawson County, The project will add more than six miles of cable median barriers, which are engineered to stop vehicles from crossing the median, between FM 1210 and the Lynn County line.

City opens budget talk in short session

In one of the shortest budget sessions – at 40-minutes – Lamesa City Council members Thursday considered increasing pay raises, redesigning the council room and purchasing Christmas street ornaments. After presenting the council with preliminary budget figures, City Manager Joe Hines asked for directions about where they want him to go when it comes with updating the 2023-2024 proposed budget.

O ur daughter, Sarah, is a newlywed. She and her husband relocated to Lamesa last summer, and while they waited to close on their home, they lived with us for about six weeks. I was nervous about this and wanted it to go well. It was an opportunity to get to know our son-in-law, Will, better, as well as to get to know our daughter as an adult, married woman.
