Football players in Lamesa and across the state got back on the fields this past Monday, the first day of high school practice allowed in Texas by the University Interscholastic League. Although football games will not begin until near the end of the month, high school volleyball teams will begin play next week after opening with scrimmages this coming weekend. LPR photo
Both Lamesa and Klondike have new high school volleyball coaches, and it’s not taking long for them to get a good impression of the players who will be making up their teams.
The Lamesa High School Golden Tornadoes open their fall tennis season at 10 a.m. Saturday at Lubbock All Saints.

With four area six-man football teams being picked to return to the playoffs, it’s already shaping up as another exciting year going into Monday’s first day of practice.

High school volleyball practices get underway on Monday, with both the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes and Klondike Cougars welcoming new head coaches this fall.
