Lamesa High School junior Paola Rodriguez and sophomore Naomi Marroquin finished a strong season by competing against the best in Texas Thursday at the girls state power lifting championships in Frisco.Marroquin finished 11th in her weight group by squat lifting 145 pounds, bench pressing 50 and deadlifting 185 for a total of 380 pounds.Maypearl’s Emily Fortner won that weight group with a total of 715 pounds.Rodriguez, advancing to state for the second straight year, finished 12th in her weight group by squat lifting 175 pounds, bench pressing 100 and dead lifting 210 for a total of 485 pounds.Santa Gertrudis Academy’s ...
