Sands girls look good in playoff-opening win

The Sands Mustangs on Thursday looked like anything but a girls basketball team which had been off for 10 straight days. Due to the severe winter weather, Coach Ben Connell’s girls had not played a game since Feb. 8 when they rolled past Richland Springs in a practice game after repeating as the District 8-1A champs. Connell couldn’t have been any prouder of the way his Mustangs responded when they returned to the court Thursday and thumped the Guthrie Jaguars, 76-31, at Slaton.
