The O’Donnell Eagles split their high school basketball doubleheader Tuesday night at Spur. A quick start helped pave the way for a 34-30 Eagle victory over the Bulldogs in the girls game. O’Donnell, now 13-7 on the year, jumped out to a 12-4 first quarter lead before taking a 14-9 halftime edge. “More than anything tonight, we’re proud of the way our girls dug down on defense. Spur made this game tough for us offensively but we made up for it with our defense,” O’Donnell Coach Blake Nichols said. “Something we talk with our girls about all of the time is how defense travels.
