Thursday evening’s district 12-and-under Cal Ripken baseball tournament opening game between Lamesa and Denver City basically came down to one swing of the bat. With the score tied at 3-all in the top half of the sixth inning, a Denver City’s slugger launched a grand slam homer that left Lamesa witha 7-3 defeat at the Bill Weaver Youth Complex with the 7-3 victory. “This was one of those games which kept going back and forth for the first five innings.
