Welcoming back six starters from a squad which went two rounds deep in the Class 4A softball playoffs a year ago, Coach Vanessa Hernandez felt before the season that her squad has an opportunity to be something special. Watching her sluggers in this past weekend’s First Pitch Classic at Lubbock only added to Hernandez’s hopes. The Golden Tors finished that tournament by winning three out of their four games in the Hub City. Lamesa began pool play in that three-day tournament last Thursday.
