Aynes falls short of title, sets personal records

Lamesa High School’s Charles Aynes lifted his best among the best last Saturday in the state high school boys power lifting championships at Abilene’s Taylor Expo Center. Unfortunately it just wasn’t enough as Aynes finished 15th in the 308-pound class at Abilene. “The competition was out the roof last weekend. The guy who ended up winning it lifted nearly 1,800 pounds,” Golden Tor Coach Mario Gonzales said. Aynes squat lifted 615 pounds, bench pressed 370 and dead lifted 540 for a total of 1,525 pounds.
