The Golden Tornado seventh grade football team chalked up its third win of the season Thursday at Brownfield, 44-26.
The Sands Mustangs have gotten a good start on their bid to return to the UIL Class 1A State Cross Country Championships.
Klondike took a huge second step toward winning its third straight district championship by corralling the Loop Longhorns, 46-0, Friday night at Jim and Pat Nance Field.
On paper it looked like a rebuilding year for the Sands Mustangs due both to their youth and being in one of the toughest six-man districts in the state.
The O’Donnell Eagles are ranked tenth in the state in Class 1A girls by the Cross Country Association of Texas. They turned in a strong showing at Tuesday’s District 6A Championships at Lubbock Christian University.
_ On Oct. 21, 1797, the USS Constitution, a 44-gun U.S. Navy frigate, is launched in Boston Harbor. She was built to fight Barbary pirates off the coast of Tripoli and won the nickname “Old Ironsides” during the War of 1812, when British shots merely bounced off Constitution’s sides.
Almost 200 Lamesa High School students and sponsors will be boarding buses Wednesday afternoon and heading to the football stadium at Andrews High School.
