Windell Stafford

    Funeral service for Windell Allen Stafford, 94, of Lamesa, will be held Tuesday, December 3, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Chapel with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. 
    Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home. 
    Windell passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 in Lamesa. 
    He was born September 1, 1925 in Lamesa, Texas to Ishmel Martin Stafford and Trudy Rebecca (Painter) Stafford. He married Mary Louise O’Bannon September 6, 1945 in Sparenberg, Texas. They were married 74 years. 
    During World War II, he served in the United States Navy from September 22, 1944 to July 18, 1946. He was stationed in Guam as a Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class. He farmed in the Dawson County all his life. He never met a stranger and loved to visit for hours.
    Windell is survived by his wife, Louise Stafford of Lamesa; children Douglas Stafford of Lamesa and Margaret Stafford Wheet of Waco; three grandchildren, Vaughn Stafford of Lamesa, Diana Stafford Conlee of Dallas and Matthew Stafford of Lamesa; great grandchildren, Aiden Conlee and Natalie Conlee both of Dallas and Brayden Stafford of Lamesa. 
    He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Winford, Clifford, and Noble Gene Stafford; and great-grandson, Sterling Stafford.
