    William (Bill) Roger Sr.

William Roger Sr.

William Henry (Bill) Roger Sr. went to his heavenly home on Tuesday, November 27, 2018.

Bill was born on March 22, 1939 in Big Spring, Texas to Henry and Evelyn Roger. He graduated from Big Spring High School in 1958. For the next ten years, Bill served in the National Guard, the U.S. Army, and the U.S. Air Force. He was a graduate of the Big Spring Police Academy and served as a Big Spring police officer and was awarded Patrolman of the Year. He later graduated from the Texas DPS Academy and served as a DPS officer. He worked for Baker Oil Service Tools from 1973-2003.

Bill married Sally Naomi Boroughs on January 31, 1963. They were married for 55 years. Sally was the love of his life. He loved to give her cards and gifts and showered her with such for their entire life together. They had three children: Bill Roger Jr., Amanda Roger Robison, and Teresa Roger Kuehler. Bill loved to laugh, and he loved to make people laugh. He was a unique character and was constantly full of life.

Bill was an extreme athlete. He was a runner and completed the Boston Marathon twice and the New York City Marathon once. He completed 26 marathons all together from all over the country. He loved baseball and was an All-District pitcher in high school.

Bill loved his family with his whole heart. He was happiest when he was playing with his grandkids. He loved family vacations and filled the lives of his family with wonderful memories and a love for Jesus. Most of all, Bill loved the Lord Jesus. He worshipped his heavenly Father daily in the way he lived. He believed in the power of prayer and prayed for many people by name in his morning devotions with his Lord Jesus. Even when Bill was diagnosed as legally blind, you could walk through his house and find Bill’s Bible open with a magnifying glass lying on top of it because he still read it even though it had become difficult for him. Bill leaves a legacy of love and laughter to everyone who knew him.

Bill’s last request was that his body be donated to science at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center. He desired this because he wanted to help one more person live or have hope in life.

Bill is survived by his wife, Sally Roger of Level-land; his son, Bill Roger and wife, Dana, of Wolfforth; his daughter, Amanda Robison and husband, Edward, of Lubbock; his daughter, Teresa Kueher and husband, Kyle, of Shallowater; six grandchildren, Trey, Aimee, Kadyn, Emily, Dakota, and Kallan; one great-grandchild, Amelia; three brothers; and three sisters.
