Virginia Lopez Vasquez

    Virginia Lopez Vasquez, 82, of Monahans, Texas passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at her home surrounded by family. 
    Virginia was born in Lamesa, Texas to parents Ysabel and Marciana Lopez on September 15, 1939. 
Virginia was a long-time resident of Monahans, Texas. For several years, she worked for the MWPISD school district in the cafeteria at the Tatom Elementary School. She was an avid sports fan who followed all her nieces and nephews from t-ball to high school sports. Virginia and her husband were huge supporters of the Monahans Loboes athletics. Not to mention, Virginia was a die-hard Dallas Cowboys fan. Some of her hobbies include gardening and crocheting but her favorite was sewing. For many years she made alteration for several people. Virginia loved to cook and bake for her family and was extremely famous for her chocolate chip cookies. 
    She is preceded in death by her husband, Jacinto Vasquez; her parents, Ysabel and Marciana Lopez; and her siblings Flabio Lopez, Pauline Lopez, Fred Lopez, Lucia Garcia, Felipe Lopez, Rudy Lopez, and Gloria Garcia. 
    Virginia is survived by her siblings Dora Toscano of Lamesa, Texas, Teresa Rodriguez of Monahans, Texas, Ysabl Lopez Jr of Lubbock, Texas, and Johnny and wife Margaret Lopez of Midland, Texas, along with her two nephews that she considered her own sons, Big Ed and wife Dora Lopez and their daughters Mari, Juli and Estrella, and Gerald Lopez and daughter Madasyn. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces, great-nephews, and Godchildren. 
    Pallbearers are Luis Lopez, Michael Lopez, Albert Garcia Jr, John Lopez, Jerry Toscano, Jonathan Lopez, Nile Martinez, Benny Rodriguez, and Marcos Gonzalez.
    Viewing will be held Tuesday, April 12, 2022, from 12:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Harkey Funeral Home. Rosary to follow at 7:00 PM at St. John’s Evangelist Catholic Church. 
    Funeral mass will be held Wednesday April 13, 2022, at 10:00 AM at St. John’s Evangelist Catholic Church with burial to follow at Monahans Memorial Cemetery.
