Thomas Vara, Jr.

    A Catholic funeral mass for Thomas Vara, Jr., 68, of Lamesa, Texas, will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 23, 2022 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church  with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. 
    Burial will follow to Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction and care of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Viewing will begin Wednesday, December 21, 2022, from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and Thursday, December 22, 2022, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., with Rosary prayer services starting at 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel.
    Thomas was born June 4, 1954, in Lovington, New Mexico to Tomas Vara and Eloisa (Sanchez) Vara. He passed away December 20, 2022, in Lubbock, Texas surrounded by his loving family. 
    He married Terry Nicholls April 15, 1976. They were married 46 years.  He worked in the oil field industry most of his life. Thomas enjoyed watching television, eating out at restaurants, and spending time with his grandchildren. 
    Thomas is survived by his wife, Terry Vara of Lamesa; children, Michelle Perez and husband, Jesse, and Tommy W. Vara and wife, Sonia; his nephews he raised like sons, Justin Molina and wife, Crystal, and Chico Molina and wife, Jacobi; ten grandchildren; siblings Jesse Vara, Albert Vara, Anthony Vara, Mary Zavala, Delia Barrera, Kathy Molina, and Gloria Cantu; and numerous nieces and nephews. 
    Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Claudio Bara and Yolanda Vara Arredondo.
    Pallbearers: Anthony Vara, Tommy Vara, Justin Molina, Chico Molina, Jesse Perez, Jaxon Perez, Jude Molina, and Kyle Molina.
