Shirley Follis

    Shirley J. Follis, 86, of O’Donnell, wife of Judge Ed Follis, Jr., went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday morning, December 9, 2022.  
    Mrs. Follis was born on March 3, 1936, in O’Donnell, Dawson County, Texas, to the late George L. Sutton and Cecil F. (Roberson) Sutton.
    Shirley met Ed, the love of her life, and they were united in marriage on December 30, 1988, in Lamesa, Texas.
    Shirley attended O’Donnell High School, graduating with the senior class of 1953.  She then attended Eastern New Mexico University, studying accounting.  Shirley loved to quilt, was a seamstress, an expert in oil painting and was a pencil artist.  She was a dedicated homemaker and was a long-time member of First Baptist Church in O’Donnell.
    Those left to cherish and honor her memory include her husband, Ed Follis, Jr. of O’Donnell; four daughters, Connie Ochoa of Seagraves, LaJean Van and her husband Walt of Abilene, Deborah Vance and her husband Dan of Elephant Butte, New Mexico, and Claudia Baldwin and her husband Joe of Kempner; one son, Paul Follis of Oklahoma; one sister, Patsy Byrd and her husband George of Post; 13 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren. 
    Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, three sons, Rusty Cornett, Jerry Cornett and Bobby Follis; one sister, Audrey Morrison; one grandson, Clifton Ochoa; and two sons-in-law, Mikel Vance and Junior Ochoa.
    Visitation for Shirley will be held from 11 AM until 2 PM, on Thursday, December 15, 2022, at the First Baptist Church in O’Donnell.  
    Funeral services will follow at 2 PM on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in O’Donnell, 701 Standefer Street, O’Donnell, Texas.  Reverend Taylor Wood will be the officiant.  
    Final rites and interment will be held in the O’Donnell Cemetery under the personal care and direction of Combest Family Funeral Homes and Crematory.
    Pallbearers will be Tyanna Sullivan, Chris Cornett, Clay Cornett, Kurtis Miller, Michael Miller, Jacob Van, Jamie Ochoa, and Micah Ochoa.
    The family requests memorial donations, in Shirley’s memory, be made to Home Hospice, 111 E. 7th Street, Suite A, Big Spring, Texas 79720.
