Sandy Hogg

    Minnie Sarah (Sandy) Hogg was born in Lamesa, Texas, on September 25, 1925, to Oscar and Carrie Land. She graduated from Lamesa High School and married Gonzell Hogg on April 5, 1945. She and Gonzell farmed in the Midway Community of Dawson County, where they raised cotton and their daughter, Theda.
    Sandy was preceded in death by Gonzell, her husband of 73 years. She was also preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, Chalmers Land and Lamar Land, and her sisters, Mildred Waltrip and Betsy Brandon.
    Sandy died on August 10, 2020. 
    Sandy was, in her own right, an accomplished farmer and a devoted Christian. 
    She is survived by her daughter, Theda, her son-in-law, Ricky Smith, grandchildren, Robby Smith, and wife Natalie Smith, Jason Smith, Honey Smith, Candy Bowman and husband, Danny Bowman. She was loved and is mourned by her great grandchildren, Colby Smith, Ryan Smith and wife Kristina Smith, Cheyenne Smith, Collin Smith, Corbin Smith, Joshua Haney, Hannah Haney, McKenna Bowman and Addison Bowman.
    Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.  Graveside services and interment will be in Dawson County Cemetery (formerly Lamesa Memorial Park) at 9:00 am on Friday, August 14, 2020 with Pastor Ben Phipps officiating.
