Samuel J. "Sammy" Lopez

    Funeral mass for Samuel “Sammy” J. Lopez, 61, of Lamesa will be held Thursday, November 7, 2019, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Margaret Mary’s Catholic Church with Father Jose de Dios Gonzalez officiating and Deacon Daniel Valenzuela assisting. 
    Interment will follow at Dawson County Cemetery.
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Rosary will be recited Tuesday, November 5, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 6, 2019 at 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home Chapel. 
    Sammy passed away on Sunday, November 3, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas. He was born April 21st, 1958 to Flabio and Elia Dora (Juarez) in Lamesa, Texas. He was married to Margarita (Chavira) Lopez for twenty-two years.
    He worked for the City of Lamesa for many years. He was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan and loved spoiling his adorable grandchildren.
    Sammy is survived by his wife, Margarita Lopez of Lamesa; mother, Dora Lopez of Lamesa; daughters, Cristina Arguijo, and husband, Tommy of Lamesa, and Sylvia Acosta and husband, Eric of Gaithersburg, Maryland; sisters, Silvia Arredondo of Lamesa, Mary Lopez of Midland, Irma Lopez Moreno and husband, Cristin of Midland, and Elsa Lopez Reyes and husband, Luciano of Lamesa; grandchildren, Kristina Lucero Hernandez, David Eric Acosta, Marisela Grace Acosta; and Godson, Carlos “Carlitos” Moreno; brother-in-law, Jose “Chema” Chavira and wife, Yolanda of Lamesa; and a host of nephews and nieces.
    Sammy is preceded in death by his father, Flabio Lopez; and brother, Ernest Juarez Lopez.
    Pallbearers will be Javier L. Arredondo, Adrian J. Arredondo, Christopher Lee Arredondo, Carlitos Moreno, Robert Trevino and Bob Thomas.
