Sam Oliver

Samuel K. Oliver, beloved son, brother, and gifted musician, passed away January 20, 2022 at his home in Kingfisher, Oklahoma.
Sam was born October 5, 1962 to Layton and Joyce Oliver of Lamesa, Texas. From an early age, Sam, along with his sisters Teri and Patricia, enjoyed singing and playing piano at home and in church. Picking up music from the radio and church gospel hymns helped shape a passion for song that the Lamesa community will likely remember most about Sam. This passion – along with his unmistakable country crooning voice – took him to local recording studios where he laid down velvety vocal tracks to some of our most cherished hymns and love songs. During the 1990’s, many throughout the community would call in to Don Sitton’s radio shows to request to hear Sam’s music. His mother Joyce and grandmother Allie Pearson were among his biggest fans.
With his humor, energetic talents, easy-going manner, and all-American charm, Sam kept his family entertained at holiday gatherings – most especially at Christmas – and provided a lifetime of memories and moments that will not soon be forgotten. And through life’s ups and downs, Sam courageously held strong in his faith in God. It is through this faith that his family finds peace knowing he is at rest in his Heavenly home, and reunited with his beloved parents.
Sam is survived by his sisters Teri Kent and Patricia Miller, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A graveside service officiated by Dennis Adams will be held at Dawson Country Cemetery on Friday, January 28th at 2 p.m.
Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home.
