Ruth Deere

    Funeral services for Ruth Neil Deere, 82, of Lamesa will be held Saturday, October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Crestview Baptist Church with Pat Githens officiating. Interment will follow at Fluvanna Cemetery.
    Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Visitation will be held Friday, October 18, 2019 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Branon Funeral Home in Lamesa, Texas. 
    Ruth passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family Wednesday, October 16, 2019 in Lamesa, Texas. 
    She was born July 10, 1937 to Joe and Dora (Rogers) Williams in Borden County. She married Richard Leon Deere July 14, 1962 in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 41 years. She was baptized July 28th, 1963 at First Baptist Church of Lamesa. 
    Ruth received her Dog Grooming License in 1970 and groomed dogs for many years. She was a Cub Scout Leader and Girl Scout Leader. Richard and Ruth operated Phillips 66 gas station on 4th street for several years. In 1986, she owned and operated Craft Delight on Lamesa square for 3 years. 
    She was founder and organizer of Rodgers & Williams Reunion for 12 years. She was a member of the Berta H. Porter, Rebekah Lodge #260 and served as the Noble Grand from 1997 to 1998. 
    She became a member of the SPCA Animal Shelter July 12, 1973. She operated the Lamesa Shelter for many years and retired in 1990. She provided love, shelter, food and healthcare. When possible, she placed them in a good home with a loving family. When the shelter closed, she setup shelter in her own home. She would feed dogs and cats around the city when she felt they needed her help. She always kept food in her vehicle. 
    Her hobbies included: sewing, love of all animals, craft work, genealogy of family history, the love of solitary on her computer, spending time with her kids and grandkids, and loved one bird “Tom Tom”. 
    Ruth is survived by her children, Alice Brantley of Lamesa, Debbie Browne of Clyde, Alan Yocom of Lamesa, Carla Deere Turner of Lamesa, Mendi Nelson of Dallas; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great, grandchildren and one on the way; 3 great great grandchildren and one on the way; sister, Wilma Kathy of Andrews; brother, Joe Ed Williams and wife, Mary of Seagraves. 
    She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, R.L. Deere; children, Jamie Yocom, L.R. Deere and Mary O.Evans; grandson, Jeremy Yocom; and siblings, John Bruce “Boss” Rodgers, Otis Dean “Chunk” Rodgers, Roy Williams, Naomi Williams, Angie Williams, and Josie Adams. F
