Ross Barron

Ross Ephream Barron was born on August 30, 1938 in Lamesa, TX. He left his earthly body November 15, 2019. He was 81 years of age.
Ross was the sixth of nine children born to Jones Beachum and Erma Snell Barron. He grew up south of Lamesa in the Midway community surrounded by extended family and friends. It was a simpler time where Sunday dinner at Grandma and Grandpa’s house was a weekly event and cousins were your best friends.
He grew up helping his Daddy on the farm and learned to love the land. He farmed for many years alongside his Daddy and brother. He ended his working career at the Preston Smith Unit as a prison guard in Lamesa.
Growing up, Ross was a faithful member of Midway Baptist Church which his father, along with other men in the community, helped build and where his mother was the pianist. After moving to town, the family joined First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. Ross loved to sing and was active in the church choir, led singing in his Sunday school class and looked forward to his birthday singings, which he hosted each year.
Ross married Linda Ann Norris on August 22, 1958 and they had three children. He tells the story of when he saw Linda for the first time. He was around 14 years old and waiting in the car for his mother at Piggly Wiggly when he noticed the girl in the car next to him. “Boy was she a pretty thing.” Several years later while cruising the square, he saw her again and asked her to ride around. Two months later, they were engaged and enjoyed 39 years together until Linda’s death in 1997.
As Ross met Jesus face to face, he was also reunited with his father and mother, his two brothers Virgil and Robert Barron, two sisters Barbara Barkowsky and Sue Corley and his beloved wife of 39 years Linda Barron. He is survived by four sisters Linnie Hancock of Ft. Worth, Clara Dean of Andrews, TX, Grace Key of Slaton, TX and Elaine Huse of Midland, TX.
Left behind to cherish his memories are his children, Steve Barron and wife Denise, Shelley Brown and husband Keith and Stacy Jackson. Also, his twelve grandchildren Crista Gray, Kami Barron, Chelsey Barron, Andrea Swinney, Andrew Brown, Allison Patton, Noah Jackson, Mackenzie Braun, Cheyenne Jackson, Skyler Jackson, Canyon Jackson and Ezra Jackson. He will also be missed by his thirteen great-grandchildren Caden and M’Kynleigh Barron, Addisyn and Krue Gray, Brooklyn, Brielle and Briar Swinney, Peyton and Hunter Brown and Callie, Sadie, Jordy and Leeroy Braun.
Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, “Well done, good and faithful servant. You were faithful with a few things, I will put you in charge of many things; enter into the joy of your master.”
This is not goodbye, but see you later. We love you Papa. Be silly!
