Rickey Hightower

    Memorial service for Rickey Hightower, 60, of Tarzan will be held Thursday, February 20, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church of Lamesa with Pastor Jim Medley officiating. 
    Visitation will be held following the service. 
    Rickey passed away Sunday, February 16, 2020 in Tarzan, Texas. 
    He was born November 26, 1959 in Lamesa, Texas to Earl Vernon and Clara Onetta (Milstead) Hightower. He married Shelly Hatchett on August 21, 1980 in Lamesa, Texas. They were married 39 years. 
    He farmed alongside his brothers all his life. Family, ranching and roping were his love. He served on the Lamesa Rodeo Association for many years, alongside NRCS and University Lands. He also served on the FSA Board and was awarded Rancher of the Year in 2019. 
    Rickey is survived by his wife, Shelly Hightower of Tarzan; children, Cody Hightower and wife, Katie, of Andrews, Ami Lowder and husband, David, of Andrews, and Bailey Ross Hightower of Patricia; sisters, Neta Woodul and husband, Greg, of Lamesa and Rita Cornett of San Angelo; brothers, Dan Hightower and wife, Judy, of San Angelo, and Charlie Hightower and wife, Janna, of Patricia; grandkids, Taylor Lowder, Lilly Hightower, Brayden Lowder, Ella Hightower, Addison Hightower, and Clara Hightower; sister in law, Alison Foster and husband, Montie, of Flower Grove; and brother in law, Michael Hatchett of Lamesa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    He is preceded in death by his parents; father in law, Bill Hatchett; mother in law, Sarah Hatchett; and brother in law, Ronnie Cornett. 
    The family suggests memorials to the Martin County Fire Department, P.O. Box 1266, Stanton, TX 79782 or a charity of your choice.
