Rick Lee

Memorial services for Rick Lee, 67, of Lamesa will be held Monday, June 17th, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at Church of the Nazarene with Lee Lennon officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Branon Funeral Home.
Rick was born December 11th 1956, in Lamesa, Texas to Robert and Gloria. He grew up on the family farm before moving to Colorado and graduating from Northglenn High in 1978.
Rick then worked at Consolidated Freightways before pursuing a career as a welder. In 1983, Rick met Linda McGee, and her son Mike. Soon after Rick and Linda married and welcomed their son Luke into the world. A few years later, Rick was persuaded by his grandparents to move back to Lamesa to start overseeing the family farm. During the 8 years of farming, Rick and Linda raised two boys, survived a tornado, the record floods of 1986, and subsequent years of drought.
Having endured, he decided it was time for a change and began a career with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Rick worked in several capacities during his 26 years at the Smith Unit, before retiring and acting as a care giver to Linda until her passing in October 2019.
During his final years, he enjoyed sitting on his patio, cooking, drinking coffee, spending time as Pawpaw with Samuel and the many other people he loved. Rick passed away Friday, May 31, 2024. He is survived in death by Mike Hilson, wife Traca and grandson Samuel of Lamesa, Luke Lee of Houston, parents, Butch and Gloria Dayton, of Granbury and sister, Terri, of Odessa, TX.
The family would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the staff at both The Beehive and Lamesa Medical Arts Hospital who were instrumental in caring for him throughout the last several years. They were true friends to him and willing participants in his many antics.
He was a good friend to many and will be greatly missed by all. Dad finally got to “go home”.
