Petra H. Casarez

    Catholic funeral graveside services for Petra H. Casarez, age 67, of Lamesa, TX. will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2021 at the Dawson County Cemetery with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating.
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Due to area Covid-19 situations we continue with public safety. For the safety of the family and our community, face masks and social distancing are required at the funeral home and cemetery.
    Visitation and viewing will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., at Gonzales Funeral Home with a Rosary prayer service staring at 7:00 p.m. 
    Petra passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 in Lamesa, TX. 
    She was born on March 31, 1953 in Juan Aldama, Zacatecas, Mexico. Petra married Manuel Casarez on April 20, 1973 in Lamesa, TX.
    She was preceded in death by her father, Jesus Rangel Hernandez, and her mother, Delfina Perez Garcia; her sister, Antonia Hernandez Perez; her son, Tony Casarez; her baby daughter, Petra Casarez, 2 great Angel babies.
    Petra enjoyed playing Spanish Bingo, cooking for all her family, and family gatherings. She loved for her granddaughter to paint her fingernails. Petra had a great love for all her beloved family. Her Faith in the Lord was very strong
    Petra is survived by her husband, Manuel Casarez, Sr. of Lamesa, TX.; her three sons, Manuel Casarez, Jr., and wife, Janie Casarez, Larry Casarez and wife, Rachel Casarez, and Tommy Casarez and Susie Zepeda, all of Lamesa, TX.; and her nephew that she loved as her son, Ricky Lee Hernandez of Lamesa, TX.; her brothers, Ruben Hernandez, Juan Hernandez and wife, Martha Hernandez, all of Lamesa, TX., and Ricardo Hernandez of Mexico; her sister, Sara Hernandez of Lamesa, TX.; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
    Pallbearers will be, Larry Casarez, Jr., Manuel Casarez, III, Tony Casarez, Ricky Lee Hernandez, Isaac Guzman, Eusebio Moreno.
