Patsy Hubbard

Surrounded by her four children, Virginia “Patsy” Hubbard passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 16, 2023. She was 102.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, April 1 at 11:00 am at University Christian Church, Fort Worth, followed by a reception in the church gallery. Private burial will be held Sunday at Sweetwater Cemetery.
Born October 11, 1920, to Palmer and Esther Swenson Olsen, she grew up in Gatesville TX and was the last surviving member of GHS class of 1937. She attended The University of Texas at Austin and graduated in 1942 with a BBA degree. While a student there, she was a member of Mortar Board and was selected as a University Bluebonnet Belle, an honor based on beauty, personality, and campus awareness.
Patsy was an active member of UCC, past President of Creative Arts Section of FW Woman’s Club, and belonged to Lecture Foundation and Bankers’ Wives Club.
Always a lady, Patsy was the consummate hostess, opening her home and sharing her expertise in the kitchen. Her coffeepot was always hot! She inspired others with her healthful lifestyle, and her sweet nature and good sense of humor warmed the hearts of all who knew her.
She was married to John Barry Hubbard, the love of her life, for 51 years before his passing in 1995.
Survivors include her children Carol Ann Lane, Sue Tarlton, Jean (and husband Jackie) Warren, and Barry Hubbard; grandchildren Houston and Patrick Lane, Morgan Tarlton Polly, David and Rob Warren, and Trey, Austin, and Stuart Hubbard; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister Ann Wiland.
The family suggests memorials be made to The Salvation Army.
