Panfilo Garza

    Graveside service for Panfilo Garza, 90, of Lamesa will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Dawson County Cemetery with Father Martin Pina officiating.
     Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Rosary will be said Sunday, March 29, 2020 and Monday, March 30, 2020 at 7:00 p.m., in the Branon Funeral Home Chapel.
     Panfilo passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. 
    He was born October 19, 1929 to Santos, Sr. and Romona (Zamora) Garza in Dewitt County, Texas. Growing up near San Antonio, he later moved to Lamesa in 1952.
    Panfilo married Mary Salinas, the love of his life, on December 15, 1957 in York Town, Texas, they were married 63 years. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church and was a cursillista. 
    He retired from the City of Lamesa after 36 years. Panfilo loved fighting game roosters, he also loved watching wrestling and playing baseball. He played on the York Town Minor league baseball team. Most of all he loved his grandchildren.
    Panfilo is survived by his wife, Mary of Lamesa: children, Ray Garza and  (Augustina) Lamesa,  Fred Garza and (Yolanda) of Lamesa, Leonor Moreno and (Frank) of Lamesa, Robert Garza and (Rosie) of Odessa, Beatrice Garza of Midland, Joe Garza and (Sandra)  also of Midland; 15 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, son Panfilo Garza, Jr., six brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren.
