Myrtle Jeffcoat

    Funeral service for Myrtle Davis Jeffcoat, 87, of Lamesa, will be held on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at Second Baptist Church with Pastor Tobey Clements officiating. Visitation will follow in the church activity building. 
    A private burial will be held at the Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Myrtle passed away on Saturday, January 22, 2022 in Lamesa, Texas surrounded by her family. 
    She was born on July 22, 1934 in Comanche, Oklahoma to Amos Emanuel and Annie (Pinner) Davis. She married James Owell Jeffcoat June 23, 1955 in Lovington, N.M.
    Myrtle enjoyed reading the Lamesa Press Reporter on Wednesday’s and Saturday’s, scratching off lottery tickets and going to estate and garage sales with her son Eddie. She was known to her great-grandchildren as “Granny Duck”.
    Myrtle is survived by her daughter, Linda Small and husband Craig of Lamesa, and her son, Jim Jeffcoat and wife Sheila of McAllen; daughter-in-law Arla Jeffcoat of Lamesa; grandchildren, Cameron Jeffcoat, Amanda Hailey, Kaci Porterfield and Lindsey Dunsworth; twelve great-grandchildren, and a sister Mollie Hill of Lamesa.
    She is preceded in death by her parents; husband James Owell Jeffcoat; son Eddie Wayne Jeffcoat; sister, Billie Ruth James, and two brothers, Wayne Davis, and Alfred Davis. 
    The family suggests memorials to the Second Baptist Church, 1705 N. Bryan Ave., Lamesa, Texas 79331 or a charity of your choice.
