Martin Oballe, Jr.

    A Catholic funeral mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Martin O’Balle, Jr., age 61, of Lamesa, TX., at 10:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2023, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church with celebrant Father Chacko Thadathil officiating.  
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. 
    Viewing will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Thursday, February 23, 2023, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with a Rosary prayer service starting at 7:00 p.m. at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel.
    Martin passed away on Saturday, February 18, 2023, in Lamesa, TX. 
    He was born, November 7, 1961, in Big Spring, TX.
    Martin was preceded in death by his parents, Martin O’Balle, Sr., and Catarina O’Balle; his brothers, Jose O’Balle, Leonires O’Balle, Raul O’Balle, and Roman O’Balle, Sr.; his sister, Rosa O’Balle Rodriguez.
    Martin loved his children. He was a big jokester and always had everyone around him laughing. He had memorable nicknames for almost everyone in the family. If you ever needed something or any help, Martin always tried to help.  He had a heart of gold. Martin was always up for a good time! Martin worked for several local farmers as a farm hand for many years.
    Martin is survived by his son, Moses O’Balle of New Braunfels, TX.; his daughter, Priscilla O’Balle of New Braunfels, TX.; his sisters, Elisa O’Balle Olvera and husband, Clemente Olvera, Sr. of Lamesa, TX., Emeralda Gonzalez of Uvalde, TX., Martha O’Balle Luna of Lamesa TX., Maria Isabel O’Balle Ogeda of Brownfield, TX., and Francisca O’Balle Diaz and husband Cirenio Diaz of Garden City, TX.; 5 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and relatives.
    Honoring Martin O’Balle, Jr. as his pallbearers are, Roman O’Balle, Jr., Raul Baltazar, Clemente Olvera, Jr., Daniel Ogeda, Jr., Eric Gonzales, Cirenio Diaz.
