Maria Zubia

    Chapel funeral services for Maria Zubia, age 82, of Lamesa, TX will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 5, 2020 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Ramiro Lumbreras officiating. 
    Burial committal will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery. 
    Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home. Face masks are required at the funeral home. Due to the current area Covid-19 situation we continue to practice public safety measures.
    Viewing and visitation will be held at Gonzales Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Wednesday, November 4, from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with an Inspiration service starting at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
    Maria passed away on Friday October 30, 2020 in Lubbock, TX. 
    She was born on August 17, 1938 in George West, TX. Maria was married to Edwardo Zubia.
    She was preceded in death by her parents, Fortunato and Dominga Gomez; her sons, Robert Guzman and Alex Gomez.
    Maria was a loving housewife. She loved her church, the Faith of God in Christ. She was an avid sports fan of the Cubs, Red Raiders, Dallas Cowboys, and the Bulls. She loved Patrick Mahomes, and enjoying playing Loteria with family.
    Maria is survived by her husband, Edwardo Zubia of Lamesa, TX.; her sons, Henry Cortez and daughter-in-law, Rosalinda Cortez of Lubbock, TX., Danny Cortez and daughter-in-law, Ernestina Cortez of Taft, TX., Gregorio Cortez and daughter-in-law, Julie Cortez of Sundown, TX.; her daughters, Nora Chavez and son-in-law, Steve Chavez of Lubbock, TX., MaryAnn Gonzales and son-in-law, Eddie Gonzales of Garland, TX., Pearl Rodriguez of Levelland, TX., and Catrina Zubia of Lamesa, TX.; 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, and 10 great-great-grandchildren.  She also is survived by her brothers, Adam Gomez and David Gomez of Taft, Martin Gomez and Fortuanto Gomez of Lubbock, and Joe Gomez of Lamesa; sisters, Anselma Gomez of Katy, and Nellie Montes and Virginia Gomez of Houston; nephew Carmen Moreno of Lamesa; nieces, Janie Alanis of Katy, Christy Barrera of Corpus Christi, and Crystal Salcida of Taft; several relatives and friends.
