Maria Vela

    Celebration service for Maria Vela of Midland formerly of Lamesa will be held Sunday, January 3, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.  at Agape Ministry Church with Pastor Manual and Irene Salazar officiating.  Burial will follow at Dawson County Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Branon Funeral Home. 
    Viewing will be Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.  Inspirational service will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021 at Branon Funeral Home at 6:00 p.m.  Face coverings and social distancing are required for the safety of the family and our community. Limited seating is available at funeral home and church.
    Maria passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2020 in Midland, TX.  
    She was born April 20, 1950 in Eagle Pass, Texas to Jose and Elvira (Lopez) Martinez.  She married Jesus Vela March 29, 1967 in Caldwell, Idaho. They were married 53 years.  She loved the Lord. She enjoyed her family and grandkids.  She was a loving, caring person, and hard worker.  She never knew a stranger.  She was a strong, beautiful and had a heart of gold.
    Maria is survived by her husband, Jesus Vela of Midland; children, Juan Jose Gonzales and wife, Janie Barron of Lamesa, Eilda Alvarado and husband, Jimme Jr. of Midland, Irene Salazar and husband, Manual of Lamesa, Amy Alvarado and husband, Rudy of Midland; and Eric Jay Vela and wife, Lucinda of Midland; sister, Irma Salazar of Midland; brother Sotero Lopez of Universal City; fifteen grandchildren; and fifteen great grandchildren.  
    She is preceded in death by her parents; great grandchildren, Mia Starr Castro and Mckinzie Mina Mendoza.
