Margarita Gusman

    Margarita Gusman, 98, passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 14, 2020 at the Pflugerville Care Center in Pflugerville, Texas. A Celebration of Life was held at Beck Funeral Home, Pflugerville, Texas on December 1, 2020.
    Graveside service will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 5, 2021 at the Dawson County Cemetery, Lamesa, Texas with Father Chacko Thadathil officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of the Dawson County Cemetery. 
    Due to the Covid-19 area situation, and for the safety of the family and our community, face mask, and social distancing is required at the cemetery.
    Margarita was born on August 9,1922 to Antonio and Andrea (Garza) Guerra in Waelder, Texas, Gonzales County.  She was married to Alfredo Gusman on December 13,1941 in Lamesa, Texas. She was a strong, hard-working lady with a loving heart. She worked as a seamstress at Dotty Dan and retired from Lamesa Medical Arts Hospital after 30-plus years of loyal service as a cook. Foremost, Margarita was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, and grandmother.
    In addition, she was a devoted Christian. Prayer was her constant companion. She enjoyed reading her Bible. She took pleasure in crocheting afghans and making quilts for her children and grandchildren. She especially loved cooking, baking and making tamales during the holidays for her family.
    She played Bingo at Heatherwilde Assisted Living for five years and earned the title of Bingo Champion. She always gave away her winnings to her grandchildren. Margarita loved church music and hummed songs whenever she worked on sewing projects.
    She is survived by her son Bill Gusman and wife Rosie of Austin, Texas; daughters Ann MacBeth and husband Bill of Austin, Texas; Gloria Acosta and husband Ramiro of Covington, Washington; Bettie Vera and husband Carlos of Lubbock, Texas; her beloved 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great grandsons; and numerous nieces and nephews.
    Margarita is preceded in death by her parents; loving husband; three sisters Guadalupe Garza, Virgilia Cardona, Eluteria Flores; five brothers Narciso Guerra, Antonio Guerra, Juan Guerra, Jesus (Jessie) Guerra, Leandro Cardona; one grandson Jimmy Dale Rodriguez, and one great granddaughter Kennadie Vera.
    The family is very grateful for the compassionate care given to Margarita the last year of her life by the staff of the Pflugerville Care Center and IPH Hospice Care, Austin Texas. Memorial gifts may be sent to St Margaret Mary/Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, in Lamesa, Texas.
