Funeral services for Manuel Barrera Lopez will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Catalino Cedillo officiating. Burial committal with US Military Honors will follow to the Dawson County Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Gonzales Funeral Home.
Viewing will he held on Friday, February 25, 2022 at Gonzales Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m.
On Tuesday, February 22, 2022, Manuel Barrera Lopez, loving husband, father, and
grandfather, passed away at age 70.
Manuel Barrera Lopez was born to Maximo and Julia Lopez, on July 9, 1951, in Lamesa, Texas.
As a child, Manuel lived at the labor camp, south of Lamesa. Drafted into the army at the age of 17, Manuel served as a Private in the 3rd Platoon, CO A, 82nd Engineer Battalion. After serving for three years, he was honorably discharged on May 1, 1972. He married Olga Lopez on April 3, 1978. Manuel’s favorite pastimes were playing pool, and faithfully watching his beloved Cowboys. Later in life, he loved spending time with his many grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Maximo Lopez, mother, Julia Lopez, and sisters, Irma Moriel, and Minnie Rodriguez.
Survived by his wife of 41 years, Olga Lopez; and his son, Manuel Anthony Lopez and wife Ronnie Lopez of Plainview, Texas, son, Sam Magallan and wife Amanda Magallan of Sanderon, Texas, son, Benny Lopez and wife Sonne Lopez of San Angelo, Texas, and son Nicky Lopez and wife Ashley Lopez of San Angelo, Texas. Grandchildren: Alexis Lopez, Calleigh Lopez, Sammy Magallan, Mia Lopez, Aleena Lopez, Jacob Lopez, and Olivia Lopez. He is also survived by his siblings, Virginia Arrendondo, Juanita Macias, Olga Salinas, Carlos Lopez, Felix Lopez, Maximo Jr. Lopez, Vicki Olivo, John Jo Lopez.
